This collection contains red dot mounts for pistols, revolvers, shotguns and rifles without a factory optic cut. A red dot mount lets you fit a red dot sight without milling the slide. Most mounts replace the rear sight and need no permanent modifications. You can remove the mount later and refit the original rear sight. If your pistol has a factory optic cut, you need an optic plate instead. See Optics ready plates.
How a rear sight mount works
On most pistols, the rear sight sits in a dovetail cut across the slide. The mount replaces the rear sight in this dovetail. The red dot then sits on top of the mount. Because dovetails differ between firearm models, each mount fits a specific model or model family. Some titles state the dovetail width, for example [11.85 mm] for the APF and Arsenal Firearms Strike One. Many mounts for CZ, Glock and other pistols do not fit the Optics Ready or MOS variants. The mount title or description says so.
Two pistols from the same brand can need different mounts. For example, the Glock 21 and Glock 22 have their own mounts. A mount for the Glock 17 and 19 does not fit them.
Mount types in this collection
-
Rear sight mounts replace the rear sight of a pistol, revolver or shotgun. This is the largest group.
-
Frame mounts install on the bottom of the frame. They are available for the Beretta 92X Performance and for selected Glock Gen.4 models.
-
Picatinny mounts install on any Picatinny or Weaver rail. Versions with a QD mechanism install and remove by hand, without tools. Some versions have a riser, for example 28 mm, to raise the red dot above the rail.
-
Shotgun and rifle mounts fit models such as the Benelli M4, Breda B12, Beretta 1301 and Ruger 10/22. Universal mounts for a .670" receiver radius should be installed and checked by a qualified gunsmith.
-
Revolver mounts fit selected Smith & Wesson, Ruger and Colt revolvers. Smith & Wesson revolvers need a frame that is drilled and tapped for a scope.
Match the mount to your red dot footprint
The footprint is the screw pattern and base shape of a red dot. A mount accepts only the footprints named in its title. Most mounts here take Shield RMSc, Trijicon RMR, Leupold DPP, Docter (Vortex Venom) or C-More RTS. Other mounts take Holosun K-series, Toni System, Aimpoint Acro or Holosun 509T.
Many titles use a type letter for a set of footprints:
- Toni System type A: Shield RMSc, Leupold DPP and Docter.
- Toni System type B: Trijicon RMR and C-More RTS.
- EGW and Outer Impact type S: Shield RMSc, Leupold DPP and Holosun K-series.
- Outer Impact type C: Trijicon RMR, C-More RTS and Docter.
The footprints are always listed in brackets after the type letter. Read this list, not only the letter. To browse by footprint, see Red dot mounts by footprint. If your red dot and mount use different footprints, see Footprint adapters.
Red dot mounts by firearm brand
The mounts are sorted by firearm brand and then by model. Many mounts fit a whole model family, because these models share the same slide and dovetail.

Installation
To fit a rear sight mount, you drift the rear sight out of the dovetail. Then you push the mount into the same dovetail and fix it. You need a sight pusher or a punch for this step. The red dot is then screwed to the mount. For screws, we also offer a torque screwdriver and threadlocker. See Installation tools.
Makers and materials
Most mounts are machined from aluminium. Toni System makes them in Italy, EGW and Outer Impact in the USA. Shield Sights in the United Kingdom also uses brass and polymer. KMR and Zendl in the Czech Republic and Contessa in Italy machine their mounts from steel.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a gunsmith to install a red dot mount?
No, for most mounts in this collection. Rear sight mounts and frame mounts need no slide milling and no permanent modifications. To drift the rear sight out of the dovetail, you need a sight pusher or a punch. You find these in Installation tools. Picatinny mounts install on an existing rail. The only exception are universal .670" radius mounts for shotguns and rifles. These should be installed and checked by a qualified gunsmith.
My pistol is Optics Ready. Will these mounts fit?
No. The mounts in this collection are made for slides without an optic cut. Where a product mentions Optics Ready or Glock MOS variants, it states that the mount does not fit them. For an Optics Ready or MOS pistol, buy an optic plate for your model. The plate installs in the factory optic cut in place of the cover plate. See Optics ready plates.
How do I find the right mount for my pistol?
- Find the exact model of your firearm, for example CZ Shadow 2 or Glock 19.
- Open the collection for your firearm brand, then the collection for your model.
- Open the product and read the compatibility list. Your model and variant must be on it.
- Find the footprint of your red dot. The red dot maker names it in the specifications.
- Choose the mount version that lists this footprint in its title.
What does "type A" or "type B" in the title mean?
The type letter tells you which red dot footprints fit the mount. The footprints are listed in brackets right after the letter. For example, "type A [RMSc, DPP, Docter footprint]" fits red dots with a Shield RMSc, Leupold DPP or Docter footprint. Buy the type whose list includes the footprint of your red dot. A mount for one footprint only shows the footprint name instead of a type letter.
Can I mount a red dot on a revolver?
Yes, on selected Smith & Wesson, Ruger and Colt revolvers. The mount replaces the rear sight.
- Smith & Wesson: models such as the 686, 629, 19, 66 and 586. The frame must be drilled and tapped for a scope. All new frames are.
- Ruger: Blackhawk, Redhawk, GP100 and other Ruger revolvers.
- Colt: Python (models made before 2020) and Trooper Mark 3.
