This collection contains red dot sights with the Shield RMSc footprint. The footprint comes from Shield Sights and is common on compact and slim pistols. Many slim pistols have a factory cut that takes RMSc footprint red dots directly, without a plate.

Shield models
-
RMSc: the original micro sight for narrow slides, 15.0 x 21.6 mm window.
-
RMSsc and OMSsc: micro compact sights for concealed carry with a 14.35 x 17.35 mm window. The OMSsc has a translucent roof.
-
RMSx and OMSx: competition sights with an 80% larger lens than the mini sights and a 21 x 28 mm window. You can choose a 4 MOA dot, an 8 MOA dot or a 2 MOA dot with a 65 MOA circle.
-
RMSw: gasket sealed. According to Shield, it stays watertight at 20 m depth for over 30 minutes.
-
AMS and AMSc: enclosed emitter. The AMSc is made for narrow frame and single stack pistols.
-
SMS2 and SMSc: housing made of glass-filled nylon polymer, with a rear sight notch for co-witness with standard iron sights.
-
RMS2 and RMSd: aluminium housing. The RMS2 has automatic brightness. The RMSd has a hard dip coated acrylic lens.
Automatic brightness
The Shield RMSc and RMSd adjust the brightness by themselves. A sensor measures the light level at the target and controls the LED output. Shield also leaves out the red reflective filter on the lens of these models. This gives the sight a minimal visual signature.
Enclosed red dots from other brands
The Holosun EPS Core puts the large EPS window (16.0 x 22.9 mm) on the RMSc footprint. The Holosun AEMS Micro has a square 18 x 18 mm window. It uses the Holosun 509T footprint, and an adapter to RMSc comes in the box. The Olight Osight S and Osight SE and the Sightmark Mini Shot M3 Micro Solar are enclosed as well.
Window sizes of other models
Olight Osight K, S and SE: 14 x 21 mm. Vector Optics Frenzy-S: 17 x 21, 17 x 24 or 19 x 28 mm. Vortex Defender CCW: 16 x 20 mm. Sightmark Mini Shot M3: 15 or 16 x 20 mm.
Reticle options
The most common dot in this collection is 4 MOA. Other models have 3 or 6 MOA dots, or a 2 MOA dot with a 32 MOA circle. Some Shield models switch between several dot sizes.
Direct fit on slim pistols
Pistols such as the Glock 43X MOS and 48 MOS, Sig P365 X and XL, Springfield Hellcat and S&W M&P Shield Plus take RMSc footprint red dots directly. See Direct-fit red dots.
Mounting the red dot
On an Optics Ready pistol, you need an optic plate that takes this footprint. See Optics ready plates. On a pistol without optic cut, you need a red dot mount that takes this footprint. See Red dot mounts.
Covers for Shield red dots are in Red dot accessories.
Frequently asked questions
Can I put a Shield RMSc red dot on my pistol?
Yes, if there is a plate or mount with the Shield RMSc footprint for your model. Pistols with a factory optic cut take an optic plate. Pistols without one take a red dot mount in place of the rear sight. See Optics ready plates and Red dot mounts.
Can I install the red dot myself?
Yes. Screw the red dot onto the plate or mount with the screws that come with it. Put a drop of threadlocker on each screw and tighten it to the torque given by the maker.
Do I need a plate for my Glock 43X MOS?
No. The slim MOS cut of the 43X and 48 takes RMSc footprint red dots directly.
Glass or polymer lens?
Glass is more resistant to scratches. Shield marks its glass models with [Glass] in the title. The original SMS has a polymer lens.
