Loctite Threadlocker: A Must-Have for Installing Optics | 0.5 ml

Installation tools

(8 products)

This collection contains tools to install iron sights, red dot mounts and optic plates. With the right tool, you can change a sight or fit a red dot yourself without damaging the slide.

Sight pushers and drift punches

  • Rear sight pusher (Real Avid): pushes the factory rear sight out of the dovetail and the new sight or red dot mount in. It does not fit every model. The product page lists the models it does not fit.
  • Sight pushing tool (Eemann Tech) and sight drift punch tool (Angry Bear): you knock the old sight out and the new one in. Both are made of aluminium, so they do not damage steel sights.
  • Installation tool for red dot mounts (Toni System): made of polymer. It helps you knock the mount into the dovetail at a straight 90 degree angle.
  • Gunsmith's punch set (Eemann Tech): four hardened carbon steel punches of 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm for roll pins.

Screws and torque

  • Torque screwdriver (Vector Optics): adjustable from 1.1 to 6.8 Nm, with 10 bits. It lets you tighten plate, mount and ring screws to the value on the product page.
  • Loctite threadlocker (0.5 ml): stops screws from loosening under recoil.
  • Installation kit for optic plates (Impact Machine): includes a T10 Torx bit and blue Loctite 243.

Frequently asked questions

Which tool do I need to fit a red dot mount?

A sight pusher or a drift punch to remove the rear sight and push the mount in. The Toni System installation tool helps you knock the mount in straight.

Do I need threadlocker?

Yes, for plate and red dot screws. Without it, screws can loosen under recoil.

Do I need a torque screwdriver?

We recommend it. Plate, mount and ring screws have a maximum torque, and a torque screwdriver lets you tighten them to exactly that value.
