Sights for Smith & Wesson models

(51 products)

This collection contains iron sights for Smith & Wesson revolvers and pistols. Revolver sights are the largest group.

Revolver sights

LPA adjustable sights and rear sights fit S&W revolvers such as the 686, 629, 19, 66 and 586. A Zendl rear sight fits K, L, N and X frames. The revolver must already have a factory adjustable rear sight cut. Choose your version by these points:

  • Front sight type: sets come for revolvers with a pin-front sight or with a spring-front sight. Check how your front sight is fixed.
  • Finish: black or silver.
  • Red dot ready: these sights have a Picatinny interface on top, so you can add a red dot later. The revolver must be suitable for a S&W scope mount, which all new drilled and tapped frames are.
  • New or old frame: a new frame has three drilled holes for a scope mount on the top strap. An old frame has one hole for the rear sight.

Revolver sight versions

LPA makes several versions for S&W revolvers:

  • Adjustable rear sight only: in blank or fiber optic. You keep the factory front sight.
  • Adjustable sights: front and rear sight with fiber optic. Set the version by your front sight type, pin-front or spring-front.
  • Red dot ready adjustable sights and rear sights: the rear sight has a Picatinny interface on top. You keep the iron sights and can mount a red dot later.
  • Silver versions: the same sights in a silver finish instead of black.

All these sights are low-profile and fully adjustable for windage and elevation. You can zero them for a specific load. LPA machines them from steel in Italy. The standard blade notch of the Zendl rear sight is 3 x 2.4 mm.

A fiber optic front sight fits the S&W Competitor revolver. See Sights for Smith & Wesson revolvers.

M&P pistols

Which M&P sight for which slide

The LPA adjustable sights for the M&P fit the M&P, M&P Shield, M&P Shield Plus, M&P M2.0 and M&P M2.0 Shield. The Optics Ready slides of the M2.0 need their own sights, because a red dot sits on the slide. The LPA semi-adjustable co-witness sights fit the M&P9 M2.0 Optics Ready, the C.O.R.E. and the Metal series. They do not fit classic slides without optic cut.

3rd Generation and older pistols

LPA adjustable rear sights fit the S&W 3rd Generation pistols in 9 mm, .40, 10 mm and .45, the 1911E in .45, and the 645 and 745. See Sights for Smith & Wesson 3rd Generation and Sights for Smith & Wesson 645, 745.

Sight picture

The end of each title names the sight picture. Fiber optic is bright in daylight. Tritium glows in the dark. Luminescent dots charge in light and glow for a while. White dots and white lines give contrast without glowing. Blank sights have a plain grooved surface.

Installation

Most sights sit in a dovetail. You drift the old sight out and the new one in with a sight pusher or a punch. See Installation tools.

For red dot mounts for S&W, see Red dot mounts for Smith & Wesson models.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change the sights on my M&P at home?

Yes, with a sight pusher or a punch. Drift the old sight out of the dovetail and push the new one in. If you do not have the tool, a gunsmith can do it for you. See Installation tools.

Which sights should I choose for my Smith & Wesson?

It depends on how you shoot:

  • You use a red dot: co-witness sights. They are tall enough to see through the red dot window.
  • You want to zero for your ammunition or shoot competition: adjustable sights. You set windage and elevation with screws.
  • You shoot in poor light: tritium. It glows in the dark without charging.
  • You shoot in daylight, at the range or in competition: fiber optic.

Pin-front or spring-front sight?

Look at how the front sight of your revolver is held. A pin-front sight is held by a cross pin, a spring-front sight by a spring plunger. Choose the set for your type.

Can I put a red dot on my S&W revolver?

Yes, with the red dot ready sights, if your revolver is drilled and tapped for a S&W scope mount. All new frames are.
