Vector Optics Paragon 7x25 GenIII Digital Balistic BDC Rangefinder

Rangefinders

(6 products)

This collection contains laser rangefinders from Vector Optics and Firefield. A rangefinder measures the distance to your target with a laser. You need the exact distance to hold over correctly or to dial the right correction on your scope. All models here measure in meters or yards and have 6x or 7x magnification.

Maximum range

The maximum range is measured on a reflective target. On a deer or another animal, the real range is shorter. The product pages list the range for each target type:

  • The Victoptics 6x21 reaches 750 m on a reflective target and 275 m on a deer.
  • The Forester 6x21 GenII reaches 1,500 m on a reflective target and 640 m on a deer.
  • The Paragon 6x25 GenII and 6x21 GenIII reach 1,850 m on a reflective target. On a deer they reach about 825 m.
  • The Paragon 7x25 GenIII reaches 2,195 m on a reflective target and 1,006 m on a deer.
  • The Firefield RangePoint measures from 5 to 800 yards.

Choose a range well above your longest shooting distance on game. With the measured distance, you dial or hold over on your scope. See Rifle scopes.

Angle ranging

On a slope, the bullet drop depends on the horizontal distance, not on the line of sight. Most Vector Optics models measure the angle. They show the true horizontal distance, the height and the line of sight distance.

Scan mode and PinLock

Scan mode measures continuously while you move across several targets. PinLock helps you measure a small object in front of a background, for example an animal in front of trees.

Ballistic models

The Paragon GenIII BDC models tell you how many clicks to adjust on your scope. The Paragon 7x25 GenIII Digital Ballistic works with the free AB Synapse app with the SORD ammunition database.

Display and battery

The GenIII models have an OLED display, which you can read in low light. The Firefield RangePoint has an LCD display and runs on two AAA batteries. Most Vector Optics models use a CR2 battery. All models switch off automatically to save the battery.

Frequently asked questions

Which range do I need for hunting?

Look at the range on deer, not on a reflective target. For shots up to about 250 m, the Victoptics 6x21 is enough. For longer distances, choose a Paragon model.

Do I need angle ranging?

Yes, if you hunt in hills or mountains. On steep shots, the horizontal distance is shorter than the line of sight distance.
