Direct-fit red dots

(30 products)

This collection contains red dot sights that fit factory optic cuts directly, without a plate. Most slim pistols with a factory cut use the Shield RMSc footprint. A red dot with this footprint goes straight into the cut.

Pistols with an RMSc cut

We have direct-fit RMSc red dots for these pistols:

How direct mounting works

A slim pistol with a factory optic cut usually comes with a cover plate in the cut. You remove the cover plate and put the red dot straight into the cut. Two screws hold it in place. Without a plate, the red dot sits lower on the slide. A lower red dot is closer to the line of the iron sights.

The screws from the pistol maker do not always fit the red dot. Shield Sights makes screw sets for the Sig P365 X and XL and for the S&W M&P Shield Plus Optics Ready. See Red dot screws. Put threadlocker on the screws.

Choosing a red dot for a slim slide

  • Small housing: the Shield RMSsc and OMSsc are made for concealed carry and small handguns, with a housing 19 mm wide. The Shield SMSc and AMSc are made for single stack pistols.
  • Larger window on a slim slide: the Holosun EPS Core has the large EPS window of 16.0 x 22.9 mm on the RMSc footprint.
  • Enclosed: the Holosun EPS Core and AEMS Micro, the Shield AMS and AMSc, the Olight Osight S and SE and the Sightmark Mini Shot M3 Micro Solar. Rain and dirt cannot block the LED.
  • Co-witness with standard iron sights: the Shield SMS2 and SMSc have a rear sight notch in the housing. The AMS co-witnesses with standard height iron sights.

Compare the housing width with the width of your slide. The Shield RMSc is 23 mm wide, the RMSsc and OMSsc 19 mm, the Holosun EPS Core 30 mm.

The Holosun AEMS Micro uses the Holosun 509T footprint. It fits an RMSc cut with the adapter that comes in the box.

Dot sizes in this collection

  • Most Shield models: 4 MOA dot. The RMSx and OMSx also offer an 8 MOA dot or a 2 MOA dot with a 65 MOA circle.
  • Holosun EPS Core MRS and AEMS Micro: 2 MOA dot with a 32 MOA circle. Holosun EPS Core 3: 3 MOA dot.
  • Olight Osight S and SE: 2 MOA dot with a 32 MOA circle, the SE also with a 6 MOA dot. Osight K: 6 MOA dot.
  • Vector Optics Frenzy-S and Sightmark Mini Shot M3: 3 MOA dot. Vortex Defender CCW: 3 or 6 MOA dot.

A small dot covers less of the target at distance. A large dot or a circle is faster to find when you draw the pistol.

Other direct-fit red dots

Some pistols use other cuts. Direct-fit red dots exist for the Glock MOS, HK VP9 OR, Sig P320 Optics Ready, Walther PDP 2.0, CZ P-10 Optics Ready and S&W M&P M2.0. See Red dots with direct mounting footprint.

For all RMSc red dots, see Red dots with Shield RMSc footprint.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a plate for a direct-fit red dot?

No. You remove the cover plate from the optic cut and screw the red dot straight in. Only the Holosun AEMS Micro needs its RMSc adapter, which comes in the box.

Which red dot fits my Sig P365 X?

A red dot with the Shield RMSc footprint, for example a Shield red dot, the Holosun EPS Core or the Olight Osight K.

Can I still use my iron sights?

Only if they are tall enough. Factory sights are often hidden by the red dot. Co-witness sights are taller, so you see them through the window. See Sights.
